MYTHS ABOUT FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY BUSTED

Ever wondered why we are attracted to the clothes, accessories, and ornaments we see on displays of malls and shops or to the luring photos that are put up on the websites of retail stores? Well, it’s nothing but the wondrous fashion photography that makes us buy what we see. With this blog, readers would get to know what ‘FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY’ actually means. Not only this, we’ll be busting and unleashing a few myths that revolve around the photography world!

MYTH NO.1: FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALL ABOUT EXPENSIVE CAMERAS!

Believe me that it is the biggest lie that has taken over the lives of talented photographers with cameras that aren’t up to date. Photography is an art and talent and it has nothing to do with the cameras possessed. Fashion photography, too, is nowhere related to cameras, their expensiveness or their brand. However, it does relate to how you play with the picture to create something distinctive.

MYTH NO.2: FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY IS COMPLICATED

Fashion photography is more creative than complicated. It is that one kind of photography that all aspiring photographers aim to do once in their life because of the imaginative value that it has to offer.

MYTH NO.3 EDITING IS THE SOUL OF FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

Pictures taken in the right light and background do not always call for editing and hence, editing is not the ‘soul’ of fashion photography. It, however, is a supporting pillar but perfect pictures can still be produced without adding the editing element.

MYTH NO.4 FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY CANNOT BE DONE WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF FASHION

That’s a lie because as photographers, all you need to know is the art of capturing the perfect image. Fashion photography doesn’t come with the obligation of knowing the rules of fashion. All you need is a basic creative, artistic and imaginative mind to know how, when and where to click the best photographs.

MYTH NO.5 FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY INVOLVES A LOT OF MONEY

That again is a pure myth because fashion and photography, both are the creations of skill and talent and shouldn’t always be high budgeted unless required so by the concerned person. A simple background, if worked on in perfect daylight with even the simplest of the faces can become a huge artwork if the photographer possesses the right skill. Therefore, money and budget is not a big matter when it comes to fashion photography.

Fashion photography is the art of playing with fashion trends through lenses and cameras. It involves putting the product in a limelight which is different from that of its competitors. The use of peculiar models differentiated makeup, eye-capturing backgrounds and editing techniques are a few features of fashion photography. As more and more new ways of fashion portrayal are emerging, the competition amongst the fashion photographers has increased which has led to an increased number of myths about how fashion and photography should appear together in one frame. However, these myths are far from becoming a reality.
